Dr. Owen UngEndocrine Surgeon
Dr. Owen UngOwen is the Director for the Centre for Breast Health, Head of the Breast and Endocrine Surgery Unit at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and Professor in Surgery University of Queensland Medical School. His clinical interests are breast cancer and endocrine disorders (thyroid and parathyroid).
He is a committed clinician, researcher and teacher who lectures and publishes widely. He is a principle investigator for a number of major Australian and New Zealand clinical trials relating to the management of the axilla and regional nodes in breast cancer. Through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, he plays an active role in surgical training, assessment and examination.
Owen has obtained extensive administrative and management experience through his various clinical leadership roles and is active on numerous State and National Committees. Previous national representations include: Board Member of General Surgeons Australia (GSA), Chair of the Breast Section of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS) and Chair of the Breast Group of the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA). He was elected to the Chairmanship of RACS Queensland State Committee in 2015.
